Incursion
Brief
This project is the main 3rd yr team project that I am working on. We had a small game jam for team forming and from there we decided to make Incursion.
What I Am Making
For this project I will designing multiple levels along with the other designers on the team. I will also be making small art assets such as VFX and cinematics that will be throughout the game. I will also be helping to create the various sounds in the game.
Feedback
So far the feedback for this project has been extremely positive. We have created a tech demo/protype with all of the main mechanics working together with the level designs. During initial playtesting we had no negative feedback. Next main thing to focus on is adding art assets to the game to replace the current greybox.

My Process
Game Idea
The inital game idea was to create a third person rougelite with an tight gamplay lop that allowed for fast iteration and rapid development.
What Has Gone Well So Far
Once we had the inital idea ironed out. We divided task between the team. I was responsible for creating on the greyboxes for the main hub level. This is where the player would return to at the end of a run. I decided to take heavy inspiration from movies like HTTYD (How To Train Your Dragon) fr the general feel. I started by making a landscape actor and used this as a temporary assets untill i used other boxes to flesh out the greybox.
I was also assigned to start looking into the audio requirments for the project. I created a sample main menu soundtrack. As well as creating some very basic VFX for the combat in the game.
What Didnt Go As Well This Far
So far with this project the only issues that I have seen are a couple broken UI issues that we were able to quickly resolve.
What I Learnt
At the moment I have been learning how to use UE5 niagra particle systems as well as FL Studio.
Software And Hardware Used
Currenty we are using UE5.6 and Fl studios.
